This website was designed to impart information about the Holocaust, also known as the Shoah: the persecution and mass murder of European Jewry and other minority groups which occurred in Europe from 1933-45. The site is aimed at students, teachers and people with a genuine and serious interest in the subject. It reflects the moral imperative to teach and learn about the Holocaust/Shoah in order that it may never be repeated anywhere in the world, to any other peoples or nations.

It is NOT a site that will appeal to neo-Nazis, or anyone whose interest in the subject is ghoulish, voyeuristic, or otherwise motivated by negative impulses. Great care was taken in the choice of photographs and other graphic materials to emphasise the humanity of the victims and not remove from them their individuality, as was the aim of their Nazi oppressors and murderers.

The information here can be accessed through the main menu, a map menu or a unique menu of memories. Indeed, what makes this site different from the many others pertaining to the Holocaust/Shoah is this personal dimension of memory. Alongside the summary information about each main topic of study appear the memories of people who experienced the events first hand and are now living or lived in Australia.

As well as summary information and the memories, the site also presents comprehensive lists of resource materials for further reading, viewing and other study of the topics. For teachers there are lesson ideas and plans, as well as opportunites to join a lesson exchange program and other professional development opportunites. There are links to other Holocaust/Shoah sites on the Internet and facilities for interaction and feedback on many levels.
